In 2009, while volunteering with indigenous communities in Bolivia, I learned first-hand the role health plays in determining our ability to thrive and enjoy life fully. It was the experience of a lifetime, a dream of mine since I was young. Over the course of six months, I experienced many health issues while living there. When I became ill, I was unable to be present to those I wanted to help. After multiple rounds of antibiotics, I returned home weakened, deficient, and with a compromised immune system. There, I realized that to thrive and enjoy life fully, we must cherish our health, listen to and honor our bodies, and be proactive in self-care. Upon returning home, I discovered Chinese Medicine, a modality that approaches humans as unique individuals, and complex holistic beings. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine became integral in restoring my health, replenishing what had been depleted, and providing the pathway to a better state of well-being than I had ever experienced.

It was then that I decided to embark on this journey, to be of service to those seeking wellness. Upon my return, I discovered a passion for sharing my experience with others, as well as deepening my knowledge of how the body works, particularly from a Chinese medical perspective. The way Chinese medicine views the body as a whole, interconnected web made so much more sense than the compartmentalized approach many of us had been previously taught. My awareness of the impact stress has on digestion was the most interesting and powerful insight for me personally. I had experienced this first hand in Bolivia, and for about a year after my return as I worked to rebuild my digestive system, and learned to deal with stress in a healthier way. This was knowledge I wanted to share with the world. I was, and continue to be, excited to help others on their wellness journey each day. Our mental, emotional, and physical health is our greatest gift and is essential to living fully.

My goal is to approach each person with compassion and kindness, and to work together in partnership on your journey toward wellness. I am here to listen, to help you tune in to your body, and to help restore balance through acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. I am a firm believer that we all have a responsibility to self-care, and a right to receive high quality support along our way toward holistic health. Working one-on-one with people to achieve and sustain holistic well-being is what gives me life. I look forward to working in a partnership with you to help you achieve the health you seek – in mind, body, and spirit.

Specializations:

  • Pain Management – Chinese medicine views pain as a blockage or area of stagnation in the body, and aims to reinstate the body’s natural energy flow, thereby relieving the pain and allowing the surrounding tissues to heal. Whether you’re experiencing pain due to muscle tension, acute injury, chronic discomfort, or general inflammation, more than likely, acupuncture and herbs can help.

  • Stress Management and Emotional Support – When not processed properly, emotions can manifest physically in the body. With so much going on in our daily lives and in the world, it can be challenging to find the time to stop and check in with ourselves. Tuning in to our emotions can be much easier said than done. However, doing so is an essential part of the process to bring our bodies back into balance. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can help in your journey to dealing with and processing emotions in a healthy way.

  • Digestive Health – Our digestive system is arguably the most important organ system in the body, according to Chinese medicine. Issues in the digestive tract can lead to problems throughout the body, which is why we often start our treatment plan by cleaning up the diet and incorporating ways to strengthen digestion. Acupuncture, herbs, and diet therapy can help bring the body back into balance, and restore our digestion so we can be nourished.

  •  Sleep Disorders -  Quality sleep is a foundational component of our health and wellbeing. When our sleep is off it seems to affect just about every aspect of our lives. Using acupuncture, herbs, and lifestyle recommendations, we will work to improve the quality of your sleep so you can rest, reset, and begin each day refreshed.
